Description:

Groom pipe in vertical polished mahogany wall box with smooth sides and glass at the front, the back on the top extended with a baluster shape, originally with high point (sawn off according to tradition to be able to hang in the bedstead). Tobacco pipe made of clay with large oval Gouda bowl, heel and straight stem with smooth cut stem end. Bowl stem-side embossed coat of arms of the kingdom Hannover with round the shield a ribbon garter with the motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", the arms held by a standing lion on the left and a standing unicorn on a chain on the right, both placed on a ground on which the text "DIEU ET MON DROIT". Bowl reverse crowned coat of arms of Gouda surrounded by two entwined mandrakes. Stem decorated with a band with shells, followed by a hurled rank and stem inscription left "P. GOEDEWAAGEN & ZOON" and right "GOUDA HOLLAND". Decorated with fabric flowers in different sizes and colours interspersed with imitation apples and other fruits. Original spark cap made of braided brass wire.
