Description:

Sample box for tobacco products made of cardboard, covered with Moroccan leather on the outside, printed paper on the inside, large rectangular format with flat back behind which two compartments of equal thickness, each half consists of two compartments, unfolded the intermediate section shows two green fields on which the factory mark Muiderpoort from Amsterdam, the left half on the far left behind two horizontal flaps, four compartments for sixteen rectangular boxes for samples of notched tobacco, numbered on the lid on labels from 1-16 (2 are missing), second compartment also behind two flaps, four compartments for 24 oval boxes with samples of snuff, the right half of the sample box also two compartments now for cigars with on the far right behind a single flap twelve compartments for cigars, equally divided, the top one different, the second compartment divided in the same way. The flap lids on the visible side are covered with hand-coloured lithographs, the left half with four flaps with four small lithographs (115 x 14.5 cm) depicting elegant women, two signed "DEVECCA ?", the right half with two large flaps with coloured lithographs of women in fantasized medieval costume (22 x 17 cm). Sample box covered with dark red leather on the outside, on the flat leather label in green with gold ornaments and the initials "W.L." in the center.
