Description:

Pendulum of bronze, fire-gilt with on a rectangular box on four legs a second square figural box in the shape of a bale of tobacco with a central circular hole for the movement with silver-plated dial, on the right of this bale sits a negro with a feather skirt and feather headdress, a bent pipe in his hand, the person in blackened bronze, the eyes of glass, the left foot rests on a barrel, on the left against the bale a standing anchor. The movement is a gorge watch movement, signed "PECOY A PARIS NO. 470" along the edge. The mantel clock placed on a wooden base or plinth in which a play mechanism with a pull cord on the right side of the plinth, along the front edge a rectangular mother-of-pearl plate with calligraphy on the left "CHANGER" and on the right "JOUER", both with a handle. Base bottom with ink "AFRICANI", "1590" and "12". Glass dome is missing.
